Changing and managing throttle
Teradata workload management provides another great way to optimize and monitor your system.
Throttles help in limiting the work coming into the system. They are a way to reduce and maintain concurrent queries or requests on the system. Imagine a highway without a red light in place. There would be no traffic management, and all the roads would become jammed. Even if your roads are capable of handling high amounts of traffic, unmanaged traffic will create chaos.
Similar is true for the Teradata database; to keep the system throughput effective all the time, it is important to limit the number of work requests coming into the system.
