As with almost all GIS projects, there is a considerable amount of data preparation work that must be done before the analysis can begin:
- Open ArcMap with the SanAntonioRealEstate.mxd file found in your C:\GeospatialTraining\SpatialStats folder.
- Remove or turn off the visibility of the BexarCountyCensusBlockGroups layer.
- Add the ZillowNeighborhoods-TX shapefile. You should now have layers for ResidentialSales, ZillowNeighborhoods-TX, and a basemap layer.
The Zillow neighborhoods data doesn't include full coverage of every area within the San Antonio metropolitan area.
- Obtain a count of the number of sales along with the average and sum of each numeric attribute for each neighborhood using the spatial join functionality in ArcMap. To accomplish this, right-click on the ZillowNeighborhoods-TX layer and navigate to Joins and Relates | Join.
