Creating reader accounts and configuring them for non-Snowflake sharing
Through this recipe, you will create a new reader account and configure the reader account to prepare it for sharing data with non-Snowflake customers.
Getting ready
You will need to be connected to your Snowflake instance via the web UI or the SnowSQL client to execute this recipe. We will act as a data provider and create a reader account subsequently used to share data with non-Snowflake users.
Since we will be creating a reader account, which is an account level activity, ACCOUNTADMIN
-level access is required.
How to do it…
We will be utilizing the Snowflake web UI to create this new Reader account. The steps are as follows:
- Ensure that you are logged in as a user who has access to the
ACCOUNTADMIN
role, and that you have changed the effective role toACCOUNTADMIN
in the top-right corner of the Snowflake web UI, as shown in the following screenshot:
