Changing the icons on the Joomla! administrator dashboard

You may wish to change the icons that are displayed on Joomla!'s administrator dashboard in the Khepri template, which is enabled as your administrator template by default.

Getting ready

Firstly, let's take a look at the Joomla! administrator dashboard, which is located by visiting the \administrator directory of your Joomla! installation in your browser. For example, if you have Joomla! installed at http://www.example.com, you access the administration panel at http://www.example.com/administrator.

How to do it...

1. 1. You will need to open the mod_quickicon.php file in the \administrator\modules\mod_quickicon\ directory of your Joomla! installation. Your aim is to change the Add New Article icon (highlighted below) to make it more obvious for a new administrator for your Joomla! website:
