Understanding WAS SSL configuration
SSL is the technology used to encrypt traffic sent between a client and a server. Additionally, a server's SSL keys identifies that server uniquely and confirms to the user that the server they are talking to is the server they requested. In the next sections, we will discuss how SSL is configured for WAS.
Configuring SSL for all server communications
WAS-based Sametime 8.5.2 components are installed with an IBM certificate that is generated to enable SSL on the HTTP interface of each of the following servers:
Meeting Server
Proxy Server
Media Manager
SSC
As the certificate that is generated and installed with Sametime 8.5.2 is self-signed by IBM, browsers will throw an alert on accessing the page as that is not a valid public authority. You can ignore this message if you choose to, and your traffic will still be encrypted.
