Data migration from external sources
In this section, we will look at the tools that are accessible to us to be able to successfully migrate data from a source external to Google Workspace.
As you can imagine, moving data from one platform to another will require detailed planning prior to, during, and after migration. A typical data migration would involve the following steps:
- Know the data: You should know what type of data is going to be migrated, understand formats, limitations, quality of data, data governance, and a need for cleanup.
- Plan for migration: What strategies are going to be adopted for data migration that a business would allow for? The key thing is to tailor the data migration strategy based on business needs, what the tolerance level is for customer impact and downtime, and so on.
