Creating Tolerances for Multi-Part Designs
As we move further into the third part of this book, we will continue to expand our skills for developing effective designs in Tinkercad with the intention of 3D printing our designs. As discussed earlier in Chapters 2 and 6, accurately dimensioning our designs is key when striving to create effective 3D models. In this chapter, we will take these concepts one step further as we determine how to adjust our dimensions in order to better support the 3D printing resources that we have available to us.
To engage with these concepts, we will be breaking topics down into the following sections:
- What are tolerances?
- How to calculate tolerances
- Adding tolerances to our dimensions
By the end of this chapter, your modeling skills will not only increase but you will also gain confidence that your models will be able to be 3D printed in a manner that is effective and functional too.
