In this chapter, we described the features that provide data access and security configuration by system administrators and the levels of data access. OWD, roles, and other sharing settings were described.
We looked at how access to records could be further widened through the use of permission sets, sharing rules, criteria-based sharing, and also manual sharing.
Finally, we posed some questions to help clarify some of the key features of Salesforce CRM administration in the areas of security and access.
In the next chapter, we will be looking at the options for improving data quality using data validation rules and dependent fields. We will also outline the features for loading and extracting data from Salesforce CRM, where we will look at the Data Loader and the data-import wizards.
