Introduction

Over the years, the availability requirements of business applications has considerably grown. Any company with or even without an online presence requires its systems, websites, and applications to be available round the clock. This can be due to their e-commerce business, their branches across the globe or merely due to the scale of operations. Ensuring such availability times requires the underlying hardware and software systems to be fault tolerant. When Oracle GoldenGate is implemented in an enterprise infrastructure it requires some extra configuration to work in a highly available fashion. In this chapter we will look into the additional steps involved in setting up Oracle GoldenGate in Oracle RAC environments. We will also cover the steps required to configure the failover of the GoldenGate processes.
