Functions of an instructional designer
On a day-to-day basis as an ID, you’re most likely to do the following:
- Work with stakeholders to ensure the learning experience you’re charged with creating meets its desired learning objectives, and is developed in the best possible learning mode for the target audience
- Learn about new topics, trends, and industries by working with subject matter experts and other stakeholders
- Research on your own to further structure learning content
- Analyze the content you’ve received and developed to structure it in a way that will be appropriate for your target audience
- Write instructional content on the topics you’ve just learned about
- Use learning-specific software tools that allow you to translate written content into an engaging virtual learning course
- Transform your written content into engaging e-learning interactions and creative graphical representations
