I wanted this chapter to be a bit of a mixed bag that touched on various addendum elements to our existence as system administrators. Many of these concepts could fill a chapter on their own, but I've already been told by a few people that this book is too long, and I've not even finished writing it yet!
Hopefully you've got some idea about the other OSes that exist in the world, if you didn't already, and you might even have an inclination to go away from this chapter and install SmartOS, or OpenBSD, which I would highly encourage. It's good to not silo yourself, and who knows? At some point in the future, this beast we know as Linux might die, and something else could rise from the ashes to take its place. You should be ready.
Like Linux dying, traditional system administration is definitely changing...
