Performing the analysis
This section refers to the sixth step of the spatial analysis process: Perform the analysis and examine the results. After we have prepared the data, we are ready to follow the previous workflow diagram to perform the spatial analysis.
To identify the features that meet all analysis criteria, we will query the database. There are two types of queries in ArcGIS: attribute query and location query.
Attribute query helps us find features with particular attribute values; while location query identifies the features whose locations meet certain conditions that are relative to other features in the same layer or in a different layer.
We can combine the attribute and location queries during the analysis process to find features that meet your criteria. Working with the selected subsets of features has two types of approaches:
Additive: This adds a new feature to the selected set of features.
Subtractive: This removes features from the selected set of features.
