Working with the map layout
When you create a map, you should consider the following cartographic design aspects:
- Audience: For example, this is a research team that performs a socio-demographic analysis
- Purpose of the map: For example, this is a map that shows the population density of the capital cities in Europe
- Map scale: For example, this is the main map body on the poster being represented at a scale of
12,000,000
- Paper size and orientation: For example, this is the presentation poster to be printed on a 42x59.4 cm piece of paper (A2 Portrait)
- Map presentation: For example, these are printed maps or posters, raster and vector files, or web maps
