Rendering functions and parametric curves
In this recipe we will plot an example of under-damping curve and some attractive examples of parametric curves such as the Teardrop Curve by using the Function plotter and Parametric curves extensions.
How to do it...
The following steps will show how to render functions and curves:
1. Select the Rectangle tool (F4 or R) and create a 600 x 400 rectangle. Make its fill White, stroke Black, and stroke width 1. Make sure it stays selected.
2. Open the Function Plotter dialog by going to Extensions | Render | Function Plotter....
3. Read the Use and Functions tabs in the Function Plotter dialog and read the explanations.
4. Go back to the Range and sampling tab and change the End X value to 50. Make sure that Multiply X range by 2*pi isn't ticked, set Y value of rectangle's bottom to -1, Y value of rectangle's top to 1, and Number of samples to 50. Make sure that Isotropic scaling and Use polar coordinates are unticked.
5. In the Function box enter
