Migrating from Domino Directory to LDAP
In a pre-8.5.2 Sametime model, you had the option of using Domino or LDAP as the authentication directory source. In Sametime 8.5.2, you must use LDAP if you want to build a complete Sametime 8.5.2 environment through the SSC. If you already have a Domino server in place using the Domino Directory for authentication, then you will need to reconfigure that server for LDAP and convert your existing Sametime buddy lists to LDAP format. However, you can continue to use Domino in your domain as your LDAP server. You will retain the same users and data as you had previously, although they will be in the LDAP name format and schema.
Note
Keep in mind that Sametime is very demanding of LDAP resources. You cannot use your Community Server as your LDAP server, and you should consider having a dedicated LDAP server for this purpose.
