Chapter 7: Designing and Implementing Networking in Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure

If application code does not follow specific characteristics for efficient and effective cloud infrastructures, it can become impossible to design a secure and high-performing networking communication platform. The success of the cloud mainly depends on the network design of the target platform. If we adopt lift-and-shift or rehost migration patterns and migrate them without refactoring, the cloud target platform might provide poor latency and throughput. Often, the cloud is blamed for the failure. However, in most cases, the legacy application implementation and the target platform’s networking design are the main reasons for poor performance. Therefore, this chapter discusses the main challenges and requirements for efficient network communication.
