Creating PDF forms
Creating PDF forms in InDesign can be a real time saver. You can add a wide range of fields including Text Fields that allow users to enter text; List Boxes that give you a list of items to choose from, Checkboxes that allow users to choose between an on or off state; Comboboxes that give you a drop-down list of items to select from; Radio Buttons that work as a group and allow you to choose only one option at a time from the group; and Digital Signatures that allow users to include a digital signature. In addition, you can add actions to submit the form and check the tab order before exporting. Your forms can then be emailed to users who can complete them and digitally sign them using the free Acrobat Reader before returning them to you to view/export the data.
In this recipe, we will create a sample form using each of the previously mentioned form field types, in addition to which we will include a digital signature field and a submit form button.
