AWS Organizations
Understanding the purpose of a service is a shortcut to understanding how to use it. Imagine a scenario where a business dips its toes into the cloud, and perhaps developers in a business unit start using it as a development playground. Over time, it gains traction and adoption. Other parts of the business begin leveraging cloud services to some degree, each swiping a credit card and consuming as needed. Before long, each department is separately in the cloud, with varying levels of governance and policy, with all charges being billed to the same company, potentially through different budgets. Now pretend to be that business’ finance, infosec, and IT departments, charged with IT governance, security posture and policy, and financial auditing.
