Adding basic flowchart shapes
Most process flowchart diagrams are created by dragging and dropping master shapes from a stencil onto a page. The shapes on the page are instances of the master shape, and not simple copies of it. These shapes are then usually connected with a connector, which is itself an instance of a dynamic connector master shape. This dynamic connector can re-route itself around other shapes and reposition its endpoints on the shapes to match.
Master shapes can simply be dragged and dropped from the stencil window, or existing selected shapes on a page can be duplicated (Ctrl + D or Ctrl + left mouse button drag) or copied and pasted (Ctrl + C then Ctrl + V). Although Copy and Paste appear on the right-mouse menu and on the Home ribbon, duplicating is actually more efficient when we need to copy shapes within our Visio document because it does not need to use the clipboard. This means that any existing contents of the clipboard are left intact.
