Preparation for creating composites
Working in the industry as an illustrator and graphic designer over the years has given me unmeasurable experience and ways to prepare and approach ideas. With that in mind, here are a few things to remember when creating Image Composites:
- Sketching out ideas: Keeping a sketchbook/journal close by to brainstorm ideas, write descriptions and notes, or explain the mood, emotion, or story you want your image composite to tell or portray can help if you feel stuck, or can’t seem to come up with something good right away.
At times, creating rough sketches can give you an idea of the types of photo references you require to create an Image Composite. This may help you stay focused and organized, and it may also save you some time if the ideas created for the sketches (i.e., thumbnails) don’t turn out so well.
