Limited Editing
For the most part, data that comes from the spreadsheet environment remains just as it was found. As it enters the corporate world, though, some small amount of editing is acceptable. These types of editing include:
- • Tolerance edits, where a numeric value is between 1 and 10, for example.
- • Simple numeric edits, as in changing the European number 2.350 to the American form of 2,350.
- • Standard acronym edits, like changing Texas to TX and New Mexico to NM.
Note that with these simple edits, the meaning of the data is not changed.
