Need for the question

Once we have raised awareness of the most important question, we need to look into the need for such a question.

Can we simply extrapolate?

As we examine the progress in the field of automation over the past decades, we do recognize relentless growth. On one hand, we see the power of processor chips increasing all the time, and on the other hand, the size of the chips is reducing all the time. Communication technology is improving too, and speeds of data transmission are improving by orders of magnitude. 5G has already been introduced in the IoT and consumer space, taking connectivity and data exchange to a whole new level. It is now making its way into the manufacturing domain. Thus, we are on the brink of 5G communications in automation and manufacturing domains, which we all know is an order of magnitude faster than the earlier generation. More intelligent algorithms for data compression would increase speed all the more.
