Step 1 – define the goal and objectives of our analysis

Throughout this tutorial, we will suppose that we are working on behalf of a young couple with a little child. They are looking for a perfect place to live in within a certain region of their interest. Our goal is to use the power of GIS-based suitability analysis methods and provide an objective and reliable answer to their question.

The goal of this analysis is to find areas that would be a good match for a young family with a child, given certain considerations. Many of their requirements are similar to those of a traditional housing estate development company. For example, proximity of subway stations, green zones, and public safety must be all taken into consideration. There are also some family-specific requirements that should be considered.
