Summary

This chapter reviewed the Power BI Report Server as Microsoft's modern, on-premises solution for enterprise and self-service BI. The main features of the report server and licensing requirements were described and contrasted with the Power BI cloud service. Furthermore, the core processes of installing, configuring, and administering the Power BI Report Server were detailed.

The next chapter returns to the Power BI (cloud) service and focuses on the distribution of published content to end users. This includes the delivery and management of packages of related Power BI content to large groups of users via Power BI apps. Additionally, other content delivery capabilities of the Power BI service are reviewed, including data-driven alerts and scheduled email subscriptions.
