Configuring nodes
To begin configuring a node, it's helpful to have first documented how you expect the node to be configured. Most importantly, you'll need to have decided what the computer name will be and what IP addresses it will have. If you will be employing NIC teaming, that should be clearly documented. Connections to physical switch ports should be documented and the physical switch should be prepared. Unless you intend to place all physical NICs into a single team, you may choose to connect them later so that you can match the logical adapters that Windows sees to the physical adapters.
You can configure a node through the GUI or through command-line and PowerShell prompts. If desired, you can even mix GUI and shell methods. Unless your node is running a version of Windows Server with a GUI, you'll have to run these visual tools from a remote system.
