Internal professional development for the SE

We discussed the different types of companies that may employ SEs in Chapter 1, Types of Organizations That Employ Sales Engineers. An interesting concept about the SE’s role that I continually observe is that there’s always more work to be done. Naturally, I have seen this more firsthand in start-up companies, but regardless, there is always a way for an SE to go above and beyond.

World-class SEs do NOT perform the bare minimum. World-class SEs raise the bar. In doing so, everyone benefits – yourself, the team, the company, and yes, even your customers.

Everyone has unique skills that they have picked up along the way. Unique skills or lessons learned are inevitably going to be valuable to your role as an SE.
