Making a 3D model invisible or hiding surfaces from our 3D model is something that we don't anticipate to do in every project. However, there are times when the Invisible material can be very handy, and this recipe demonstrates not only where to find this material and how to apply it, but also some specific situations that we may consider while using this material.

Getting ready

To begin, it is vital that you have a 3D model imported in Lumion so that you can add some materials in order to understand this recipe. On the other hand, if you don't have any 3D model available, just use one of the scenes that you can find in the Examples tab.

How to do it…

To make a surface invisible in Lumion, you need to perform the following steps:

  1. From the left-hand side of the screen, select the third menu, the Import menu.

  2. Select the Edit materials button and the 3D model you imported.

  3. Click on the Add material button and choose a surface for your 3D model.

  4. Select the Invisible material...
