Creating a realistic glass


Glass is essential in any project we work. From the glass in a complex window to a simple cup made of glass, this material has a deep impact on a still image and even more on a movie, helping us capture the light and reflections of the environment. Lumion has a glass material that can be used to create some of these materials. Let's see how we can manipulate the Glass material to get a more realistic look.

Getting ready

To begin with this recipe, you need some surfaces to apply this Glass material and some textures to use as an example.

How to do it…

To apply a glass to your scene, perform the following steps:

  1. From the left-hand side of the screen, select the third menu, the Import menu.

  2. Select the Edit materials button and click on the Add material button.

  3. From the Custom library, select the Glass material that you can find next to the Invisible material.

  4. As soon as you have this material, the surface selected is transformed to a transparent and almost invisible surface...
