Reviewing user activity
In a Sametime environment, it is important to review which services are being used, which users are accessing them, and when they are being accessed. Reviewing the logs and activity as well as monitoring current performance requires a Sametime administrator to access both Domino (for reviewing Community Server activity) and WAS (for all other server activity).
Understanding Sametime services and peak activity times allows us to plan for growth and manage demand. For instance, monitoring trends for user connections to the Community Server during the day can help indicate if an additional multiplexor is required in the environment. It is important to monitor Meeting Room activity as well. Meeting Rooms take up server disk space. Regularly removing old or unused rooms from the server will free up disk space.
