Using the Precision Editor
The Ripple tool lets you easily trim clips shorter as needed, but also extend them when needed. The tricky part is often not knowing how much you are able to extend a clip because you don't know how much additional handle space you have. In fact, you usually won't know until you hit a brick wall by seeing a red bracket appear, indicating you have run out of media.
The Precision Editor is a tool allowing you to see all available media of two clips on either side of an edit point and easily trim both and roll the edit point in one, easy-to-use interface. It is commonly used when trying to perfect timing of match-on-action shots or conversation scenes.
In the following example, we have two shots from a father/daughter dance at a wedding. Two cameras were used to record the moment.
