Evolution of outsourcing and insourcing
As you reach a certain level of outsourcing, you will likely ask yourself two important questions:
- How far should you go with outsourcing data-related work?
- Opposite consideration – what are your criteria for insourcing it back?
Our experience was precisely the same. On the one hand, we were highly satisfied with our outsourcing delivery for both data operations and data engineering. On the other hand, we started to challenge ourselves to think, “What is the evolution of this work? Should we only think of continuous, lean improvements, such as automation and various efficiency gains, or are there more powerful capabilities that could be outsourced? Yet, to play devil’s advocate, we need to evaluate the risks associated with outsourcing even further – and what if we already went too far?”
