Managing device permissions and Linux backup/restore
As you learned in the previous section, the Linux development environment is a virtual Linux virtual machine running on top of ChromeOS. This means that many of the security measures discussed in Chapter 4, ChromeOS Security, do not apply to securing your LDE virtual machine. So, what does that mean for a ChromeOS systems administrator? It means that you’re going to have to take the security concepts you’ve learned from managing ChromeOS’s security and adopt them to the Linux operating system. Doing this will ensure that you can maintain a healthy Linux environment for projects and development efforts. Although this isn’t a Linux administration guide, you’ll learn exactly how to control permissions and perform data backups/restores using the tool integrated into ChromeOS to control your Linux environment.
