Implement and Manage Physical Security
Physical security is something that sometimes (but not often) falls under the scope of the security team. In practice, most organizations have a separate physical security department that is responsible for the issuing and maintenance of access cards, security cameras, guards, and anything else the organization needs.
Sometimes, security teams get involved in the technology of access cards or cameras and which ones the business should buy or are responsible for the security of the physical security system, which we will briefly review next.
In the next subsections, we will discuss how and where IT security may get involved in aspects of physical security, focusing especially on access card technology and IT security reviews of physical security systems.
