Risk-versus-reward spots

Every well-designed competitive game map that you play has what we call “risky spots.” These are spots that are challenging to get to and usually provide little cover, but it’s usually in a vantage point that allows you to see across the map. This means you have a better line of sight for spotting enemies. In this recipe, we will be going through our map and creating a watchtower that players can climb up on both sides of the map.

How to do it…

To begin, we will use square parts to block out the first watchtower. We will build its upper walls and roof, then attach a truss part to work as a climbable ladder. Next, we’ll group and name the model, and then duplicate it over to the other side of the map. To start, follow these steps:

  1. First, insert a square part into Workspace and scale it to the desired dimensions for the watchtower. In this example, the part is scaled 9, 33, 9 studs.
