Think about the leaders you have enjoyed working for most. What was it about those leaders that made working for them so enjoyable? For most people, it's a leader who is committed, honest, and inspirational.
The hard thing about leading in this way is that it's difficult to fake those skills. You might be able to keep it up for a few days but eventually, you slip. Not only that, but it is really exhausting to maintain the effort. Once people realize that you were not entirely honest with them, it's almost impossible to rebuild the kind of trust needed in a high-performing team.
