Factors relating to data integration

What is the information that you want to be considered in the integration architecture section of your Solution Blueprint? Well, some of the most important questions to consider are:

  • Where has the data come from?
  • What are the relationships inherited?
  • What limitations are there?
  • Is there any regulatory compliance to be considered?
  • What's the value to the business?
  • Is this data really needed within a CRM solution?
  • What's the cost of integration?

Activities related to integration start as early as with the RFP and RFI processes. As explored in Chapter 3, Conceptualizing the CRM Design from Business Requirements, both RFP and RFI present preliminary requirements for the product or CRM platform. They define the business objectives and required functionalities, identify dependencies, and identify needs to varying degrees. Both processes happen early in the procurement cycle.
