The script
The UX researcher creates the script based on their conversations with the stakeholders about the main areas to be covered. The script is given to the study participants at the start of the study and includes the following:
- Introduction
- Instructions
- Tasks
- Optional post-task or post-session questions
A sample script is provided in the appendix of this book.
When using a vendor platform, the introduction and instructions are provided by the vendor and the UX researcher only needs to provide the tasks and any additional survey questions. When going the do-it-yourself route, the introduction and instructions are crucial to informing the participant and getting valid results.
Introduction
The study participants read these guidelines and instructions on their own before the study begins. Instructions should be clear and simple, and should include the following:
- A thank-you for participating.
- A description of what will happen in the session.
- An explanation that the goal is to get honest user feedback...
