You may have devices not yet running Windows 10, or new devices that still need to be initially configured. As we have already seen in this book, there are countless benefits to devices running Windows 10. One of the most prominent benefits is the end of major OS upgrades and the implementation of WaaS.
So, in thinking about moving to or installing Windows 10 on your organization's devices, there are two common methods that you can use to deploy it:
- Windows Autopilot (best for new devices)
- In-place upgrade (for devices running Windows 7 or 8.1)
In-place upgrades will preserve applications and settings. If you have an existing device running an earlier OS but just want a clean install (removing existing applications and data) you can perform a wipe-and-load before loading the OS.
