Summary
We have only scratched the surface of these topics. Still, at a minimum, we wanted to provide an overview for thinking about and designing secure operations at a manufacturing facility. Some lead-in skills may be necessary to take this further and better understand the information. Security and networking fundamentals are required when considering this topic.
It is also required that IT networking and OT engineering work closely to understand the impact that changes to the network will have. Wrapping the entire network in a big firewall is an excellent first step. Then a structured approach to applying security at various layers can be considered.
Hopefully, this short appendix gets you thinking about approaches you may consider and, more importantly, moving in the right direction.
