Summary

In this chapter, we have gone through transportation planning, its functionality, and the constraints associated with setting up the planning and selection profiles. We now have an understanding of freight unit documents and their configurations and use, along with an understanding of the functions of the optimizer and all the constraints it considers while planning transportation in the most effective way. This chapter covered manual and automatic planning concepts, including freight order creation.

We have also gone through freight order document configuration and its usage. The key concepts regarding carrier selection and freight order tendering processes/plans were also covered. The chapter included different ways to determine carriers and the methods to tender the freight order to these carriers.
