Biometric technology is rapidly gaining traction. Massive systems are collecting images of irises, fingerprints, and faces. But who protects our faces, fingerprints and other biometric identifiers? We know that no matter where you live or what you do, it's important to protect your personal information, which includes biometric identifiers. If this information were to fall into the wrong hands, this could affect your security. Because of this, it's time to start thinking about the privacy of our biometric data.
In this chapter, we'll outline the fact that we're seeing how more and more of our personal data can be exposed, and discuss what defines a privacy policy. We'll then examine how Europe and the United States (US) view privacy, along with how certain states offer better protection against the misuse of biometric technology.
