Building the LazDE tool
The Lazarus Documentation Editor (LazDE) tool is developed to create platform-independent documentation of Lazarus source code units. XML files are used to record and store documentation data. Each unit of a Lazarus project will have a separate XML data file associated with it. Other documentation tools, such as Doc-O-Matic, require you to use formatted comments directly in your source code. The use of separate XML files keeps your code comments clean and easier to read and understand. The Lazarus project uses LazDE to create HTML pages that can be accessed at http://lazarus-ccr.sourceforge.net/docs/lcl/. It is planned that at a later time there will be an integrated help system in Lazarus itself that will use XML as the source for the documentation data.
