Situation Identity
Identity in the context of a situation requires IAM that is capable of leveraging the situation as a policy component. Situational identity builds upon context to combine the static details with the immediate active environment. Without this layer, an active session may be maintained while an undesirable situation occurs.
During a change control event, a management session is desirable while an active user session isn’t. In a commercial environment, electrical operations are necessary for systems that may be safety- or life-sustaining. In the same environment during a flood, such electrical systems pose a threat to human life. During a cyber-attack, allowing Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) to intervene at multiple levels, shunting system access, and potentially electrical systems, might be the best defensive mechanism.
