PCF Dev technical requirements

In order to install and run PCF Dev, there are few pre-requisites:

The cf CLI needs to be installed; see Chapter 2, Cloud Foundry CLI and Apps Manager.
A current version of VirtualBox needs to be installed. The latest installation distribution and instructions for your operating system can be found at: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads.
An internet connection to automatically resolve wildcard URLs into PCF Dev.

Note

The ability to resolve wildcard DNS is a fundamental necessity for the Cloud Foundry magic to work. If you expect to be in a location where internet access is not available, you can configure a local DNS server on your PCF Dev local machine to handle wildcard DNS resolution. As such, the offline option requires some additional configuration. The details of an offline DNS resolution configuration using DNSmasq (http://www.thekelleys.org.uk/dnsmasq/doc.html) for OS X and Ubuntu or Acrylic for Windows can be found at: https://docs.pivotal.io/pcf...
