Getting started with your illustration
I will create an illustration based on the next story of Bunnyfable, a personal comic project in which I tell modern dark fables, to show everything you need to know.
Creating an illustration, or whatever you're creating, is 99% of the time about preparation. So, it means that if you prepare a good workspace in advance, you find good references, and you have a pretty decent color palette, 99% of the time, your work is done even before starting. So, let's start with the first step.

Those are all the windows I use for every job. Every workspace is just an iteration of these windows.
Setting up the workspace
When you work with an illustration, the things you need to be most concerned about are the following two things: color and reference. If you're doing a cartoon illustration, you need to add layers, because you will need to do some layer management.
