Chapter 2: Exploring Data in Power BI
Once you get your hands on the data, it is time to do an initial exploration, also referred to as exploratory data analysis (EDA). The goal is not only to get to know your data from top to bottom, to find outliers and missing data to fix during our data preparation, and to find correlations between features, but also to simply understand what the data looks like. By knowing your data, the model you will train is more likely to be accurate.
In this chapter, we will learn how we can use different techniques to explore our data before we use any of the artificial intelligence (AI) features in Power BI. By using the tools in Power BI that are covered in this chapter, we know what to do when preparing our data, and by understanding and cleaning up your data, you will ensure that you have good input for your model.
