Using shape masks
While we can use Motion's shape tools to create shapes, every once in a while it's nice to use shapes to conceal or mask part of an object. Let's see how we can use our shape mask tools in Motion to do that in a practical situation.
Getting ready
Open the 06_05
project from the exercise folder of this chapter. The project consists of a frame from Motion's library and a picture of a cat we've used in previous exercises. We would like the cat picture to fit the frame of the oval picture. The best way to achieve this is to use the Circle Mask tool.
How to do it...
By adding the Circle Mask tool to the the picture, we'll be able to mask out the part of the image we don't want.
Select the Circle Mask tool from the toolbar. You'll find it to the right-hand side of the Text tool and underneath the Rectangle Mask, tool as shown in the following screenshot:
