Data Extraction and Visualization
In this chapter, we will finally explore the meaning of I in Building Information Model (BIM) a bit further and mainly focus on the information in our BIM, using the project we have been modeling in previous chapters. We will learn how to create and use Schedules to check the information in our model and will create Schedules to extract geometrical and non-geometrical information from the model. We will also further develop drawing styles with Graphic Overrides, visualizing the data inside the model in a graphical way.
The topics covered in this chapter are as follows:
- Using Schedules for information extraction
- Creating and using Graphic Overrides to change the way the model is represented in various views or visualize non-geometric information
These skills allow you to take full control of how you derive data from the model and how you can visualize this data in your 2D and 3D output.
