I asked Max for some insight into common mistakes people make when creating a community or membership area and he was kind enough to tell us a bit about what he’s learned:
A common mistake that I see happen when creating a membership/community area is offering too many options for the member to pick from. When building these areas, it is crucial to build through the lens of what it would look like for someone completely new to this space and how easy it would be for them to navigate.
There are a lot of times when member spaces end up becoming information overload and it leaves a bad impression on the member. I like taking the approach of less is more when building these options. You can always scale up as you grow, but it is important to have a smooth process...
