Basic Setup and Requirements for Building a Robo-Advisor
This chapter will serve as the gateway into the hands-on coding chapters that form Part 2 and the rest of this book. The remaining chapters will focus on functional implementations of various Robo-advisor capabilities, so we will dedicate this chapter to setting up the tools required to do so.
However, this will not be a sufficient tutorial for those wholly unfamiliar with Python and coding. While the coding skills required for this book are relatively basic, you may choose to brush up on your Python skills or learn some basics using other online resources. A few good places to start include websites such as www.Python.org, www.LearnPython.org, or www.Coursera.org.
In this chapter, we’re going to cover the following topics:
- Installing and setting up Python for the hands-on chapters
- Installing and setting up the required Python modules
- Importing, reading, and visualizing market data
